Simona Halep’ dress
Simona Halep is the world’s number one tennis player. So far in 2018 she is unbeaten having played in Pune and winning the singles and doubles and now she is in the Australian Open final. You would imagine the best women’s player in the world right now would have a lengthy list of endorsements which she does. Unfortunately, though Halep has no clothing sponsor. The Romanian finished a four-year deal with German brand Adidas in December. Although she had been offered a deal from Adidas, Halep sought to seek an improved deal from other suppliers. When none could match her Adidas deal she returned cap in hand to Adidas only to be told the budget had been allocated to kit out other players namely Garbine Muguruza.
Thank you for a wonderful 4 years @adidastennis and a special hug to Claus Marten. A little bit of a sad day for me but I’m excited to see what the future holds. Happy New Year to everyone and good luck in 2018 pic.twitter.com/V2UPT4QOPF

In 2018 Halep has worn a dress she purchased on the internet herself. The red tennis dress is unbranded and features no sponsors logos at all. The Halep red dress really has been the talk of the Australian Open. How can the number one player in the world, the Australian Open finalist and potential winner not have a sponsor for her clothing. Surely the companies that turned the Romanian down in the off season must be face palming now? Why did we allow ourselves to miss out on this opportunity.
Halep faces Caroline Wozniacki in the Ladies Australian Open Final 2018 in Melbourne. Both ladies have yet to win a slam and it promises to be a fantastic match with long rallies aplenty.
