Novak Djokovic dominated Rafael Nadal to capture his fourth Miami Masters title. The Serb achieved a 6-3, 6-3 victory in a match where he looked unstoppable.
HEAD ambassador Djokovic said,
“It’s been a fantastic tournament. I played a great match from start to finish. It’s always a challenge to beat Rafa and a pleasure to play him; In 2007 I won my first big title here. Today I didn’t give him a chance to get back into the match; I’m very satisfied with my game.”
Djokovic and Nadal were playing for the 40th time, with the Serb winning his 18th in the series. After his third straight victory over Nadal and winning 20 straight matches at the Masters 1000 level (four titles in a row) Djokovic heads back to Europe.
In the women’s competition, fellow HEAD ambassador Maria Sharapova reached the semi-finals. She suffered a 6-4, 6-3 defeat against Serena Williams but remained upbeat.
“You finish the match and you know where you need to improve and the things that you need to work on. You make sure that you’re in there every point and you’re doing your thing, and not just for a short period of time.”
Sharapova renewed her partnership with HEAD earlier this month and will use HEAD’s latest racquets until at least 2016.
