DIRECTV Provides Bonus US Open Tennis Coverage

bonus us open coverageFifteen-year-old CiCi Bellis’ stunning defeat of No. 12 seed Dominika Cibulkova in the first round of last year’s US Open was a compelling reminder that anything can happen in the early rounds of tennis at Flushing Meadows. Fans can catch all the upsets and other exciting action during the first seven days of the tournament with DIRECTV’s US Open Experience Aug. 31-Sept. 6.

In partnership with ESPN, DIRECTV will provide live bonus coverage of the event through its US OPEN Mix Channel, featuring five additional outer court channels – all in HD – in addition to the main network on channels 702-707. Viewers can tune each Mix Channel to full-screen.

The US Open (Ch. 701) mix will feature up to six live matches at the same time and the “Dynamic Mix” feature will enlarge each screen size of the remaining matches as others conclude. Also returning this year is a Twitter feed for social commentary on each match; a ticker at the bottom of the mix screen providing real-time scores, commentary and messages; a new look and feel for the interactive app and broadband enabled features displaying complete tournament draws for Men’s, Women’s, Mix Doubles and player head shots.

This year, US Open fans will see more stats on the top ten players, including the number of titles and best US Open finishes – all available while watching any one of five additional court channels and the mix.

Through the Interactive feature menu, fans can select their favorite players and see bio information, match schedule and results all in real-time scoring of in-progress and completed matches along with upcoming singles matches.
