Solution Speed ™ FF 2

Lighter and faster from the first step for the all-court player

DECEMBER , 2020 – AMSTERDAM – ASICS today announces the launch of the SOLUTION SPEED™ FF 2 all-court* tennis shoe. Packed with innovative technology, the second edition of the SOLUTION SPEED FF has been tested extensively at the ASICS Institute of sport Science, in Kobe, Japan, to propel players faster from the baseline, with a lighter and more flexible feel.

While ASICS GRIP ™ technology, also new, reduces slipping at takeoff, giving all-court players the confidence and peace of mind that no matter where they move court, they will not slip or lose control.

The ability to quickly change direction, is equally as important for the all-court player. Which is why ASICS has extended its TWISTRUSS™ technology to the front of the foot, to help players push off with confidence. In fact, during testing at ISS, players take off faster from the ready position and have shown an increase in cutting movement speed with the new SOLUTION SPEED FF**.

“The hardest thing as a player, is to stay ahead of the ball while covering as much of the court as possible,” says David Goffin. “With the new Solution Speed FF 2, I feel lighter and faster, which I didn’t think was possible after playing in the last version for so long. I can also feel a better grip on the court. So, no matter how much I change direction, I always feel confident that my shoes will hold up.”

“ASICS is a brand from Japan. We follow the principle of “Kaizen” which means “continuous improvement” with every new product we introduce,” said Rene Zandbergen, Head of footwear innovation, Tennis at ASICS Europe. “To improve the SOLUTION SPEED tennis shoe, we spoke to many all-court players of all levels, and they all told us one thing – speed from the baseline is most important for their game, they rely on being faster than their opponent, while also covering the entire court, so with the new SOLUTION SPEED FF, we set out to make it lighter, faster and more flexible.”

Tatsuya Ishikawa, Lead Researcher, ASICS Institute of Sport Science, Footwear team says: “The SOLUTION SPEED FF 2 is a product of ASICS’ intense research into the mechanics of tennis. In contrast to running, which is principally about moving in straight lines, tennis involves many more dynamic movements. Which is why it is so important to choose a tennis shoe made for your playing style. It’s our job to focus on those mechanics, and every new launch takes that to the next level. We’ve been selling tennis shoes since 1952, and as playing styles have evolved and become more physical, from the pro ranks right down to youth tennis–we’ve remained committed to creating the most advanced tennis footwear to help players of all levels perform at their best, stay injury free and enjoy the game they love.”

Top tennis athletes, David Goffin (14) Alex de Minaur (25) and Jennifer Brady (25) will debut the new SOLUTION SPEED FF 2 at the Australian Open.
