Aegon Ilkley Trophy

Glorious sunshine kept the Aegon Ilkley Trophy in play throughout the day, but Britain is still awaiting a winner following the first day of men’s qualifying.
Despite a brilliant effort, Britain’s Julian Cash was beaten 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 on centre court by El Salvador’s Marcelo Arevalo. It was also a frustrating start for Britain’s Jonny O’Mara; the young Scot was dreaming of Wimbledon, but was forced to retire with an unfortunate ankle injury.
Ryan Storrie was unable to beat Germany’s Yannick Maden, who progressed to the first round with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
