Rory steals the show at BNP Paribas Showdown

The promoters of the BNP Paribas Showdown wanted to bring big time tennis back to Madison Square Garden .  So, they assembled A Listers Roger Federer and Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki to play and filled the arena with 18000 screaming New Yorkers. However it was a certain Northern Ireland golfer,recently crowned world number one, who managed to steal the show. When girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki called Rory from the crowd, gave him her stick and watched on proudly as he played and won a point against Maria Sharapova. He brought the house down.
Sharapova defeated Wozniacki 6-4 6-3.

For Main course Roger Federer fresh from his 72nd tournament victory in Dubai, took on Anerican favourite Andy Roddick. Despite the 16 time slam champion winning 35 of his last 37 matches, it was the American who prevailed in two tight sets 7-5 7-6. Mid way through the first set, someone from the crowd shouted, Lets Go Rafa. Immediately Roddick rolled up his sleeves and had the crowd in raptures with his impersonation of the Mallorcan.
