T on the lawn

Wimbledon is the epitome of the English Summer, both in the sporting and social calendars. The move from the continental clay of Paris to the green grass of the All England Club is welcomed and celebrated with British hospitality in all it’s finest.
Strawberries and cream, Pimm’s on ice and the ever refreshing cup of tea, whatever the weather!
Whilst not everyone can play on Centre Court, you can still create a homage to the worlds best tennis event by hosting your very own ‘Tea on the Lawn’ as illustrated below.
I set these pics up in my back yard using old wooden tennis rackets I bought in a charity shop and styling the table with my Great Aunt Jane’s beautiful china sets, a manual typewriter and old books including my vintage tennis finds ‘Kings of the Court’ and ‘Wimbledon Centre Court of the game’.

Recipe for Afternoon Tea on the Lawn:

* Loose leaf tea, milk & sugar cubes
* Fresh scones, cream & strawberry jam
* Victoria Sponge cake
* Bowls of fresh strawberries & cream
* a splash of sunshine
* a light breeze
* no drops of rain

Why not try your own afternoon tea party during Wimbledon? Bring the radio out, put the kettle on and enjoy a ‘tennis tea on the lawn’.

Happy Wimbledon Everyone!
