The fashion police have been out in Melbourne tracking the outfits on court and reserving judgement for the LTB Fabulous Frock Awards.
With the ladies draw wide open for the a Daphne Akhurst Trophy, the same could be said for this prestigious title.
Maria Sharapova is wearing a white Nike dress with vivid green detail in the side panels. Less elegant than her previous dresses but striking nonetheless.
Serena Williams, also in Nike, is keeping in line with her blue dress from The US Open this time the black pleats have been replaced with some white piping detail around the bust. Sporting the same look but in separates is Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitova.
Jelena Jankovic has a new clothes sponsor in Fila having been with the Chinese firm Anta. JJ’s black dress with side panel of red and purple is an unusual mix that might stand out more against the red clay of Roland Garros.
Defending Champion and Yummy Mummy Kim Clijsters is as ever dressed in Fila two piece – black skirt and white/green mix top. It’s great to see Kimmy back on court in what might be her last Australian Open tournament.
Top seed Caroline Wozniacki looks great in her Stella McCartney Adidas ‘tomato red’ creation but more striking is her new Danish flag necklace she is sporting, a present from her golf superstar boyfriend and Northern Ireland’s very own Rory McIlroy. Great taste Rory, we like a lot! Back to the dress and there is a beautiful flower pattern embedded into the fabric and a sheer detail down the middle. The skirt is cut on the bias adding a lot of bounce to her movement. The matching
shoes are allegedly $200 so not the cheapest outfit to put together but the amount of detail and the vibrant colour means the outfit is deserving of the title LTB Fabulous Frock Award. Well done Caro!
A word for Venus Williams – we miss you and your wonderful outfits! LTB hopes to see you in the not too distant future.
Until Paris my fashion friends – MWAH MWAH!
